Climbing

Palisade Crest and Glacier

North Palisade is the third highest peak in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the highest in the Palisade Glacier area (14,249′).  First scaled on July 25, 1903, ‘North Pal’ is one of the fifteen “Fourteeners” (peaks above 14,000′ in California).  The surrounding peaks are also famous for their height, spectacular forms, and attraction to climbers.

Temple Crag (12,999′) is a very popular rock climbing destination, with many routes possible.

Two Eagle Peak, at 12,979 feet is just west of Fifth Lake.

If you truly wish to climb the peaks, contact Sierra Mountain Center – we highly recommend them and have worked to support their expeditions for years.
